Exactly a decade ago, I embarked on a journey that would forever change the course of my life – an adventurous expedition around the globe, solo and undeterred. On this special day, the 15th of October, I celebrate a decade of wanderlust, discovery, and transformation.
It feels like just yesterday when I boarded that one-way flight to Mumbai, India, the first step of an epic journey that end up lasting for 3 wonderful and magical years. Little did I know that this journey would become more than a mere exploration – it became my way of life. A fusion of experiences and emotions that unfolded in a series of Saturdays, each filled with awe, wonder, and the embrace of a new culture.
My dreams as a child were woven with aspirations of exploring the world, inspired by the tales of my ancestors. Today, a decade later, I stand on the shore of memories – and almost 65 countries later – realizing that those childhood dreams have sculpted my reality.
Reflecting on the past decade, I am astounded by the extent of growth and transformation I’ve experienced. The road has been my teacher, testing me through moments of joy and tribulation. From the laughter shared with new acquaintances to shedding preconceived notions, from the triumph over challenges to the sheer wonder of witnessing the world’s beauty – each experience has left an indelible mark on my soul.
In this decade, I’ve grown in wisdom, gratitude, and compassion. I became a mom, and my life took an even more beautiful turn. Now, I share this journey with my 4-year-old son, Romeo, introducing him to the wonders of the world.
As I reminisce about the past 10 years, I am overwhelmed with a sense of joy and accomplishment. To commemorate this milestone, I have taken on the “challenge” of going on a 10-day trip starting tomorrow, to celebrate my journey. But this time around, I am not going solo. I have my little companion, joining me on this adventure.
He’s already visited 12 countries, and together, we’ll add two more to that list, marking my 64th & 65th countries and his 13th and 14th countries.
As I stand at this crossroad of reflection and anticipation, I look forward to what the future holds. This journey has been a magnificent prelude to the adventures yet to come. I am excited about the places I’ll discover, the people I’ll meet, and the memories I’ll create in the next decade.
I extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has been a part of this journey—friends, family, and the kind souls I’ve encountered along the way. Your support and love have fueled my passion for exploration and have kept my spirit soaring.
